About the course
How we teach GCSE Maths
To meet the requirements of the new syllabus it is imperative students build a strong foundation of knowledge before moving to more demanding topics. The lessons aim to develop confidence by addressing misconceptions and encouraging creative thinking from students. Positivity is actively promoted, aiming to make students feel proud of their efforts and achievements.
Diagrams and annotated examples are used to visually explain new concepts as well as develop pattern recognition and boost memory. Deep thinking questions are intended to provoke individual responses and develop creative thinking. Weekly homework is offered to consolidate the weekly objectives as well as improve exam technique.
Tuition is available in any of the following formats:
- Face to face in small groups at our Beech Lane centre
- One-to-one lessons
*Intensive holiday revision courses are also available.

Tom has over twenty years’ teaching experience. As an examiner, he has reached the highest possible standard for Edexcel and Pearson and therefore can offer specific guidance on how to maximise students’ exam results on the new specification.

How soon after coming will I notice a difference?
Usually within 1–2 weeks, but we all learn at a different pace.
What do I need to bring to lessons?
Just a pencil case and calculator. You will be given a dedicated folder to bring to each lesson.
Is additional revision available over the holidays?
Yes. We have a full revision programme with extra lessons in the February, Easter and May holidays. There may also be extra lessons during October half term — just ask.
