The AQA specification is followed.
English Language and English Literature are delivered in separate sessions.
Teaching materials are made up of a mixture of summaries reflecting key subject areas together with topic specifications and marking criteria. Summaries are complemented by concise revision cards as each topic or group of topics is completed.
Lessons methodically concentrate on an appreciation and understanding of topics; deconstructing elements of topics and questions before pulling them together. Questions are worked on individually and together.
Students enjoy being able to see at each stage how they are improving while having the opportunity to reflect and reinforce where necessary.
Whilst take away tasks are given at the conclusion of each lesson, tests outside of lesson time afford invaluable individual feedback.
Student responses across all programmes of study are positive as both their confidence and grades steadily improve in a relatively short space of time.
