Straight answers about GCSE and A Level tuition, how we teach and what to expect at Wilmslow Tuition Centre.
Choosing tuition
How do I choose a good GCSE or A Level tutor?Look for a tutor with Qualified Teacher Status, examining experience and a genuine love of teaching — and one your child ‘clicks’ with. Experienced teachers have a bank of resources and strategies, and examiners know the mark schemes and key words, so the filtering has already been done for the student.Answered by AndreaRead answer When should we book tuition? As early as you can. Places in our small groups fill up fast, with some courses fully booked by early September. It’s best to start early in the academic year for the maximum benefit — the sooner you start, the greater the reward.Answered by AndreaRead answer
How we teach
What are the benefits of small-group tuition?Small-group tuition gives each student just the right amount of teacher attention while leaving space to practise past questions independently, with help on hand. At Wilmslow Tuition Centre, groups move faster than school lessons, reach harder exam-style questions and stay relaxed and friendly.Answered by AndreaRead answer Is small-group tuition better than one-to-one?Often, yes. One-to-one lessons can give a false sense of security because the teacher keeps prompting. In a small group, students get the thinking time to work out what an applied question is really asking — the skill exams test — while still getting help whenever they need it.Answered by AndreaRead answer How is A Level Physics taught at Wilmslow Tuition Centre?Lessons cover every area of the syllabus and are planned so students achieve highly. They are based on the latest cognitive research, so students learn fast and retain their knowledge. Tuition is tailored to each student’s starting point and exam board, with a strong focus on applying knowledge to exam questions.Answered by JeanetteRead answer
